The sun and moisture exposed areas of our deck were rotted, so we decided to replace 3/4 of the deck with new pressure-treated pine, while leaving 1/4 of the deck (covered and unrotted) in the old wood. We will also be replacing all of the railing.

The old wood remaining on 1/4 of the deck is aged and obviously darker than the new pine (as seen in the attached photo).

What stain would you recommend to create as much uniformity as possible between the old and new deck? Would I need to use a more opaque stain? Any recommendation would be helpful, as there are so many options.

Thank you in advance!
