I do not understand your point.

We are contractors who have used/tested many brands and we post results from our experiences. We also make it very clear that stains perform differently based on wood types, weather, where the deck is located, etc. We offer advice based on this.

See this article: What is the Best Deck Stain

As for your link to Garden Web, it would be extremely easy to point out what the homeowner did wrong:

1. He has an exotic hardwood deck made out of Garapa. This needs a stain that is designed for exotic hardwoods. IPE Oil, Messmers UV plus for Hardwood, etc.

2. Exotic Hardwood decks need to be maintained annually. Nothing will last more then a year on a Garapa deck. It is not the stain but the wood that causes this. It is a extremely dense wood.

The poster on the other board used TWP (which is not designed for hardwoods) and expected it to last more then a year when no stain will on Garapa. This is not the fault of TWP but rather the Homeowner using the wrong product with incorrect expectations.

We like TWP but would have never suggested it for his deck.

You should not post and offer opinions that are baseless without knowing the facts.

Nobody is helping that poor individual in Indiana.

I have a 15 year old deck that is in need of rejuvenation and after a lot of research, one thing is clear: Nobody on the web can give you technical advice; but "everybody" wants to give you their opinion (and, with numbers as is the case on this site).

TWP and Defy, twice, as the top deck stains. Sounds fishy doesn't it?

I still don't know what to use but is ain't these two.
