had a full day of sun and wind today. Bubbles seemed to have worked themselves out. Left a slightly rough surface.. will lightly sand and throw down another coat if we get a few more days of sun this weekend

As for why it happened, it could be many things. Moisture under the stain is probable.

Overcast and 58°... then We got rain about 8 hours after finishing the first coat. 

Some small spots are covered in many tiny bubbles. Can I sand these sections and re stain? 

its possible the wood was not totally dry before stain was apllied since we had gotten rain 2 days before and it’s wet with dew every morning.

Stain is flaking in spots and we have to replace 2 boards. 

It’s a solid maroon color and we are looking to restain over it with a solid stain of a similar color.

Since we plan to use a solid - can we just clean and restain or do we need to strip and san first?
