Used BeautiTone Wood Shield Best Deck Stain 5 years ago (refer to photo for this product). Pressure washed and recoated it 2 years ago using a paint sprayer. Incurred no problems, looked great. Now 2 years later I have a few bare spots where it has peeled off. This area gets direct sunlight. I lightly sanded it using 240 grit sand paper, then cleaned that small test area. I wanted to only do a small test area first to see if my logic worked. I applied 2 coats on this bare area using a paint brush, waiting 24 hours until I applied the second coat.

My problem is that this bare area hardly changed color at all. It basically still looks bare with a very light coating of deck stain that looks more like transparent which this color is not. So after my 2 coats I went back to the hardware store and had them mix my can using their machine. I then tried another small bare spot area using the same procedure as above. Same problem, the colored stain barely covers that bare spot. Any suggestions please.
