Thank you for your reply. Are there any links or suggestions on how to know the amount of stain one should buy. I really don't want to have too much overage or buy too little and can't complete the project. I was originally thinking big box store so I could return or buy extra as needed. I believe we will be using a sprayer to apply the stain. does using that type of application require more stain, less stain or the same amount as using a brush or roller?

Illinois

Partial Shade

Type of Wood- Unsure

Mold or Mildew Issues- Unsure, took chips the Thompson who stated black mold present

Main Issues with Previous Stains- Previously, stained with Thompsons solid color last year and it lasted about week before chipping. (we cleaned, and sanded prior to using the stain

Our deck is in desperate need of some tending too. We would like to DYI but need some guidance as to if we need to use some sort of stain remover since we stained last year but majority of the stain came off of deck (see attached photo). If so, what remover do you all recommend. We would also like to purchase items to complete the pro in a physical store such as homedepot, lowes, walkmart, ace hardware menard etc. May you please send suggestions.
