Know off hand what products will have a semi transparent in a mid tone gray or dark gray? I was looking at using Proluxe SRD but unsure of the colors (look like it might have a blue tone or too light) then I saw your review on it from a deck standpoint. SW Superdeck is getting killed on reviews as well.
Look at Restore A Deck, Armstrong Clark, and TWP 200 Series stains. They all have a gray. As for dark gray, you might need a semi-solid. Look at TWP Semi-solid Pro-Series.
1. Massachusetts (Cape Cod)
2. Partial shade
3. Mohagany (allegedly)
4. No mold or mildew
5. Was stained with Cabot ATO 19430 about 18 months ago, before we bought the house. Looked great in Feb 2020. Now dtshere are lots of bare spots, and discoloration. It looks bad.
Reading other posts, it is clear that we need to strip it down, bleach, and apply some other brand.
But my question is: we have a full gallon of left-over ATO. Will restaining the bare places help preserve the wood between now and late summer when I can do the full job?
The photo with the steps shows one board where I applied some leftover ATO.
Thanks.
George
Leave it alone if you want to wait until you do the full job. You cannot spot apply and have it blend.
Work-in-progress. Used the RAD stripper with booster & thickening gel additives to work on old stain. With 40° fan tip on pressure washer, I had to get within 6" to get old stain to come off. Unfortunately, this roughed-up the wood fairly bad. I've succumed to the fact I need to sand all of the wood before RAD brightener and stain. I read here and on RAD website "60 or 80 grit". Which is best to use - 60 or 80? I want to get this right. Handheld DeWalt 5" orbital sander for railings and vertical surfaces, and I guess a pole sander with "normal" sandpaper for floors. I will be using RAD semi-transparent light walnut. Any recommendations or suggestions welcomed.
Thanks for all of your help & guidance. I'll post pics when completed.

We like 60 but 80 is okay as well. Here are some sanding tips:
After 4 days of prep, had a 36 hour window of weather opportunity so brushed 2G of TWP1500 into the deck. At hour nine a passing shower, then the real rain came and the stain was filleted. Tried to blow it off and that raised the oil. Not pretty as a picture
When it dries, do you recommend that I sand it down (40, 60, 80) or get chemical and strip it off? Best regards from ChezBay -30-
Send pictures after it dries from the rain.
Splotchy after rain
Strip and brighten for prep, much easier than sanding.
@administrator - thanks for the advice. Will reorder stain, just finished second 5 GA drum and spare 1 GA can.
I LIVE IN MONTREAL AND HAVE A NEW PINE DECK 12X16FT.I PUT IT UP LAST YEAR AND LET IT SIT OVER THE WINTER.HOW DO I PROCEDE BEFORE I STAIN?
