Hi, thank you for clarifying. Today noticed what appears to be some spot graying (installed September 16th) heavy rain for week immediately after. So looks like back to your suggestion of pre stain prep questions: 1) Since spot graying should both cleaner and brightner be used or just one? 2) Go ahead and address all columns? 3) Whichever prep you suggest, use same brand as the  stain? Just make sure the wood is dry and free of dirt.

These are Cedar rough side wood columns.  After 2-3 month short wait period would we still need to prep with cleaning brightening or just make sure to sweep of all dirt particles? So graying doesn't happen this quickly?

Main objective to retain natural color and grain, prevent graying from UV and water. So many brands to choose from, what's best stain to achieve my objective (semi-transparent stain?) Is it ok to stain on new cedar given we want to prevent graying. Climate is hot, humid, mild winters. Thank for your help!
