5. Main Issues with Previous Stains: our cedar posts and arch get a lot of sun, but some of the posts do not. We had major gouges due to pressure washing damage so had sand some of the arch way and lost. We previously stained just the posts with SW Superior Deck Exterior Oil Based Transparent.

We have read so much on your website, but need to confirm a few things. We have cedar posts, a cedar ceiling and a cedar arch way on a covered porch. We stained the all posts and the outside of the archway facing the sun. Everything else was left untreated (ceiling and inside of archway because it gets no sun). The SW transparent decking Oil based stain did not protect the posts/archway that faced the sun. The posts that did not see the sun still look good. We had to sand the archway due to pressure washing damage. We are currently using 30 seconds to clean the cedar because of dirt and some mildew. Do we strip the SW stain that posts look ok on in order for everything to start fresh? We are not sure what to do? Please help!
