I have a 3000psi non variable pressure washer with a wide angle end, how far from the surface of the deck do you recommend I use this to prevent damage to the wood.

Would the correct cleaning order be?:

  1. sweep/leaf blow surface
  2. stripper
  3. pressure wash
  4. brightener
  5. pressure wash
  6. wait 48 hrs
  7. stain

I did sand the whole deck before to get rid of the semi-solid/solid stain with 60 grid and then lightly went over it with 60 grit. Do I need to do anymore sanding again after the washing cycle?

Try stripping and pressure washing to get more out and then brighten the wood. Use an exotic hardwood stain when done.

we inherited an unloved and battered mahogany deck. About half had what looked like a solid stain on it, the rest of it the stain had work away and it was patchy.

I sanded it all down and also cleaned then brightened it.

There are some dark patches in the shaded area of the deck. Is that water damage? 

What would my choices of stain be for this deck, could I get away with a semi-transparent or would I need to go semi solid to get an even finish?
